Blizzard postponed
No polythene required yesterday (sorry Gina!). From an inauspicious start, it became a gorgeous day – the first that's felt anything like Spring proper.
So I got the wretched spuds planted and did some weeding. It's so long since I did any sustained digging and bending that I was soon sweating like a rapist.
And bafflingly, I got shit all over my face. This perplexed the wife: "Why are you planting potatoes with your head?"
ahahahahahahahahahahaha @ planting potatoes with your head! this made me laugh out loud. your wife is awesome!
Thank God those damn potatoes are in the ground. Strong work, soilman!

Isn't it wonderful to be out in the sunshine with the veggies? I keep forgetting that we had such an early Easter that my spuds went in unseasonably early this year. Hope you had a good day!

I've been thinking of your blog, Soilman, as we've had 17 days straight of rain now here in Sydney with no end in sight, and I'm beginning to feel like a bit of an English gardener. I'm even considering growing turnips. I've never eaten a turnip in my life but they seem like something that would cope with this endless, incredibly English grey drizzle.
Hope your spring brightens up soon so I can have some photos of sunshine on a garden to look at.

So do I, Ali, so do I. Even (especially?) when you're English, the drizzly grey days do your head in. You have my sincerest sympathy.
Turnips are terribly easy to grow and surprisingly nice - if eaten very young. May grow some myself this year.

If all fails with the day-job perhaps you should consider taking up comedy Soilman!
Another great post that made me chuckle. :-)
