Excellent! Great to see those okra plants. Now I know what mine should be looking like. My okra is about an inch tall at the moment! I'm thrilled they even germinated! Going to keep them in a pot in the greenhouse though, try to keep them as hot as possible.
Your okra plants are still alive! Congratulations.
P.S. I enjoy reading your blog. It makes me feel better about having moved to Sweden from Oz. At least it doesn't rain as much here as where you are, even if it is a lot colder.
I've grown okra before and I found the more often you cut the pods, the more they produce! Also realized I was letting them get too big and they were very hard to cut so I started harvesting them when they were smaller and very tender!!! Hope you are rewarded for your efforts with a huge harvest!!!!
I just read in one of my veggie books that you are supposed to pinch the tops out when the plant is a few inches high. I might try this with one or two.
I suppose that's meant to make the plants bushier and more productive, right? I'll give it a try on one of mine and see if there's any difference in yield. Thanks for the tip.
I sowed 7 seeds - all I got given on a seed swap sometime ago. 4 germinated and I was ecstatic. 2 then got eated by slugs. So now I have 2. Hope they produce me a few pods...
